The Kano State Film and Television Commission has taken legal action against singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara for allegedly releasing a new song without prior approval from the Commission.

In a statement issued by the Commission’s media officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, it was revealed that the singer had previously been notified about the unapproved song. “The film censorship agency sent a complaint to the singer regarding the unapproved content,” Sulaiman explained.

“The singer did not respond to the complaint, which is one of the reasons why the Commission pursued legal action, as it is illegal to release unapproved content,” he added.

Court representatives confirmed that the court had issued a summons for the singer, but he failed to appear in court on November 13 for the scheduled session.

Following the release of the song, the Kano State Film and Television Censorship Board had also requested an apology from the singer through formal communication.

“The censorship of films, writings, and music is a crucial responsibility of the Commission,” Sulaiman said. “We aim to ensure compliance with legal standards and uphold order in the entertainment industry.”
