Kano State FA on Monday restated its commitment to the development of grassroots football.

Its chairman, Sharu Ahlan, gave the assurance in Kano at the Annual General Meeting of the association.

He noted that Kano State was home to amazing talents and also had the potential to attract foreign investments with right support and commitment.

Ahlan said Kano FA was determined to provide the enabling environment for the development of football in the state.

The NFF board member added that Kano State FA was the biggest in the country, and had the highest number of registered football clubs nationwide.

“We have the largest number of registered football clubs in the country with more than 3,000 clubs in the 44 local government areas.

“We have passionate fans, good referees, coaches and talents within and outside the city,’’ he said.

Ahlan commended Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje for supporting local clubs in the state with N96 million.

The chairman called on all stakeholders, well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations to support grassroots sports in the state.

He said the association discussed the effects of COVID-19 on local football competitions in the state at the meeting.

According to him, the FA also discussed how to conduct elections in local football councils, referees council and coaches.

Other speakers at the event also commended Kano FA and the state government for their strides in sports development. (NAN)
