In a statement released on Monday, the Commission’s Chairman, Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi, said the affected wards are Kofar Mazugal in Dala Local Government Area and Matan Fada in Ghari Local Government Area.

He described the passing of the councillors as a great loss to their respective communities and extended condolences to the Kano State Government and the families of the deceased.

According to him, the Commission, in line with the 2022 Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution, is mandated to organize bye-elections to ensure uninterrupted representation at the grassroots.

Professor Malumfashi revealed that the elections are scheduled to take place on December 13, 2025, adding that preparations are in progress to ensure a credible and transparent exercise.

He called on political parties and community leaders to cooperate with the Commission to maintain peace and fairness during the polls, reaffirming KANSIEC’s commitment to upholding democratic values and guaranteeing that residents of the affected wards receive genuine representation.
