The committee, constituted by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is on a fact-finding and peace-building mission following violent attacks in Uromi that claimed several lives and displaced many, including Kano State indigenes.

In a statement released by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson to the Deputy Governor, the delegation includes notable figures such as the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Mohammad Isa Umar, as well as commissioners for Religious Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Special Duties, and Women Affairs. The Chairman of Bunkure Local Government and other top officials are also part of the team.

Speaking at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport before departure, Deputy Governor Gwarzo emphasized the seriousness of the committee’s mission.

“Our mandate is clear — to investigate, to consult, and to recommend sustainable solutions. This is not just a fact-finding mission, but a peace-building initiative aimed at restoring confidence and preventing further violence,” he said.

The committee is expected to meet with the Edo State Governor, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and civil society groups during its week-long visit. The tragic events in Uromi last month had sparked national outrage and increased concerns over security.

This effort is part of a wider intervention by the Northern Governors Forum aimed at promoting national unity and addressing rising insecurity across the country.
