The Kano State Private Health Institution Management Agency has completed a mop-up exercise for registering traditional medicine practitioners across the state.

Speaking during a report presentation by local government enumerators at the agency’s conference hall, the Director-General, Professor Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim, emphasized the significance of the initiative in improving the quality, regulation, and safety of traditional medicine practices in Kano.

“This exercise was organized to address complaints from practitioners who could not register during the rainy season. It ensures greater efficiency and safety within the state’s health sector,” Professor Ibrahim explained. Certificates were also presented to practitioners who had previously registered with the agency.

In a statement signed by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Binta Kabir Usman, and made available to the press on Monday, Professor Ibrahim reiterated the agency’s commitment to further supporting traditional medicine through specialized training programs.

He stressed the importance of integrating traditional medicine into a well-regulated health system that upholds the highest standards of practice for public benefit.

The Director-General expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for approving and funding the exercise, and to the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, for his support.

He also acknowledged the cooperation of the Kano State Council of Elders, the elders of traditional healers, and the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP).
