Kano State Commissioner for Transport, Ibrahim Namadi, has stepped forward to stand as surety for Suleiman Danwawu, a suspect facing multiple charges related to drug trafficking.

Danwawu, who is currently facing an eight-count charge filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), was earlier remanded in prison custody. During his bail hearing, the presiding judge imposed strict conditions, including a N5 million deposit and the presentation of a serving commissioner who is also a member of the Kano State Executive Council as surety.
Commissioner Namadi complied with the directive by submitting a formal application to the court, expressing his readiness to serve as surety, Daily Nigerian reports.
In the letter, he pledged to fully abide by the bail terms. He also deposed to an affidavit of means to affirm his financial capability to fulfill the bail requirements.
The N5 million bail sum is expected to be placed in an interest-yielding account, in line with the court’s directive.
The high-profile nature of the case has sparked public interest across the state. The Kano branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced its intention to closely monitor the proceedings as part of its commitment to upholding the rule of law.
