Kano Cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara accused of blaspheming companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has apologized to the Muslims for engaging in preachings that had generated tension.
According to Abduljabbar, “the people misunderstood” him.
This was disclosed in an audio clip in Hausa obtained by Daily News 24 which was released on Sunday.
In the clip, Sheikh Abduljabbar said the messages preached by him are his and not from the books.
Abduljabbar noted that since the messages were created by him, he deserved to apologize to the people.
He continued by urging Muslims to rise up the uplift Islam and protect the religion.
In an interview with the BBC, Sheikh Abduljabbar reiterated his apologies.
Reports say the preacher apologized after some of his followers demanded that he does.
A debate had earlier been organized between the controversial Kano-based Islamic cleric and the Coalition of Ulama.
The debate was organized following a recommendation to the Kano state government to take appropriate action against the controversial cleric.
While giving verdict on the debate, Prof. Salisu Shehu pointed out that Abduljabbar failed to answer all the questions he was asked in all six rounds satisfactorily.
Recall that on February 5th, 2021, a Kano Chief Magistrate Court ordered for the closure of the mosque of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara and for the cleric to desist from further preaching.
The court said the order was sequel to an oral application by the applicant Counsel, Barr. Wada A. Wada from the office of the Attorney General of Kano State.
