The Kano State Censorship Board has revoked the operating licenses of eight open theaters across the state for allegedly breaching established regulations.

This development was made public in a statement signed by the Board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, following a management meeting held on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the affected theaters include Hamdala Entertainment in Ungoggo, Lady J. Entertainment, Dan Hausa Entertainment, and Wazobiya Entertainment all located in Sanya Olu; Ni’ima Entertainment in Zungeru; Ariya Entertainment in Abedi Sabon Gari; Babbangida Entertainment in Balatus; and Harsashi Entertainment in Ebedi Sabon Gari.
Sulaiman explained that the decision to revoke the licenses came after the affected theaters persistently failed to adhere to the Board’s operational guidelines.
He also reiterated the commitment of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, to enforce regulatory standards and hold violators accountable.
The statement emphasized that the Board has legal authority to oversee activities of open theaters in Kano and impose sanctions where necessary.
It also recalled that the Board had previously suspended several theaters over similar offenses as part of its ongoing efforts to uphold discipline and accountability in the state’s entertainment sector.
