The Kano State Film and Censorship Board has confiscated equipments allegedly used for producing pornographic content by individuals operating under the guise of traditional medicine practitioners.

The development was announced in a press release issued on Sunday, May 25, 2025, by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman. According to the statement, the operation was led by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, and targeted areas in Kano Municipal and some villages in Wudil Local Government Area.

During a display of the confiscated equipment, the Board’s Director of Printing, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari Garun Babba, expressed concern over the growing trend of using photocopy and document printing businesses as a cover for distributing pornographic materials. He emphasized that such acts are a violation of state laws and undermine the values of the society.

The confiscated items are currently being held by the Board, pending legal advice from its team to determine the appropriate steps to take.

The Board also issued a warning to operators in the printing sector to stay away from illegal practices or face strict legal action. It urged residents and security agencies across the state to support ongoing efforts to eliminate immoral content from the public space.
