The Kano State Censorship Board has announced a ban on vulgar content displayed on tricycles (Adaidaita Sahu), cautioning that violators will face serious consequences.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abba El Mustapha, made the announcement following public complaints about indecent images, offensive messages, and meaningless words displayed on some tricycles in the city.

Speaking through the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman on Friday, El Mustapha said the move aims to uphold public morality and ensure strict adherence to the law.

To create awareness, officials of the board visited key roads in the city, including Maiduguri Road, Zaria Road, and Sani Marshall Road, where tricycle riders and the general public were sensitised on the importance of preserving societal values.

El Mustapha noted that the board is empowered by law to regulate public displays and will not hesitate to sanction anyone found violating the directive, regardless of their social or business status.

He also reminded residents that all literary and artistic works must be submitted to the board for screening and approval before public display or distribution.

In a similar exercise held in February, more than twenty tricycles were stopped for displaying vulgar content. Their owners were later released after pledging to comply with the rules.
