This was contained in a statement issued by the Board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, who noted that the move aims to reinforce compliance with existing rules and promote professionalism in the Kannywood film industry.
The affected film series include Dakin Amarya, Mashahuri, Gidan Sarauta, Wasiyya, Tawakkaltu, Mijina, Wani Zamani, Labarina, Mallaka, Kudin Ruwa, Boka Ko Malam, Wayasan Gobe, Rana Dubu, Manyan Mata, Fatake, Gwarwashi, Jamilun Jiddan, Shahadar Nabila, Dadin Kowa, Tabarmar, Kishiyata, and Rigar Aro.
The Board has instructed the producers or rights holders of these series to immediately halt all streaming or broadcast and submit their works for censorship within one week. Failure to comply, it warned, could lead to legal consequences.
It also urged television stations and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to support its enforcement drive, which it says is essential to safeguarding cultural standards and ensuring orderly growth in the film industry.
