Kabir Kabir, the commission’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano. He disclosed that the commission’s investigation revealed that the land, valued at over N100 million, was sold to a company identified as Mahasum, with the proceeds allegedly deposited into Mohammed’s personal account.
Further financial analysis showed that between November 1, 2024, and February 27, 2025, a total of N240 million was deposited into Mohammed’s account. The commission has since recovered the funds as part of its ongoing investigation.
Mohammed is said to be cooperating with investigators as authorities work to establish the full details of the alleged land scam and hold those responsible accountable.
This comes barely a month after the commission apprehended a serving High Court registrar, a retired deputy sheriff, three lawyers, and ten others, including security personnel and a court bailiff, for their alleged roles in a land scam exceeding N20 billion. The commission described the scheme as a coordinated operation involving legal professionals, court staff, land registry officials, and security agents.
