Kano went agog as Qadiriyya order in Nigeria and West Africa has held its 72 Maukibi popularly known as Waliyyai an annual celebration in honour of Qadiriyya founding father Sheikh Abdulkadir Jelani.

Addressing hundreds of thousands of followers gathered on Saturday to mark the Waliyyai, the spiritual leader of the order in Nigeria and West Africa Sheikh Dr Qaribullah Sheikh Nasiru Kabara called on all Muslim faithful to unite and coexist in peace with others as specified by Islamic dictates.

Malam Kabara also pleaded with the federal government not to heed the call to remove the Arabic inscription when rebranding the Naira note adding that the inscription has a significant importance to the Muslim community in the nation.

Similarly in his speech Kano state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was represented at the event by the state deputy governor Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna stated that Kano state government will continue to support peaceful coexistence in the state adding that the state administration has done a lot in ensuring peace and harmony reigns in the state.

The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero urged all Muslim faithful to commit the state and the nation into prayers especially at this moment when the nation is approaching 2023 general elections.

This year’s Waliyyai hosted various dignitaries from outside the nation’s shores as well as those within the country, prominent among the dignitaries are representatives from Morocco Pakistan among others.
