A heartbreaking tragedy struck Kunture village in Ungogo Local Council, Kano State, when 30-year-old Rabiu Sani tragically drowned while attempting to fetch water from a local pond.

The incident occurred on Saturday when Sani’s parents sent him on the errand, but he failed to return home.

Following his disappearance, a search operation was launched. Police officer Silas Munkhaila quickly contacted the Kano State Fire Service to report the drowning.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Sani unconscious in the pond. Despite their best efforts to revive him, Sani was declared dead.

Saminu Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident. The deceased’s body was handed over to the ward head, Uba Abdulkadir, who ensured it was delivered to the family for burial.
