The Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yusuf Zailani has urged the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya to deal decisively with bandits and insurgents terrorizing parts of the country.
Zailani who is also the Chairman of, Northern Speakers Forum said this in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, and Publicity, Ibrahim Danfulani on Thursday in Kaduna.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for taking his time to choose an excellent officer with rich experience in the infantry.
“The new COAS track records show that he is experienced and will hit the ground running in bringing an end to security challenges the country is facing,” he said.
Zailani, therefore, charged the new army chief to double efforts in dealing decisively with insurgency, banditry, and other threats to Nigeria’s peace and unity.
Prior to his appointment, Yahaya was the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, the military outfit tackling terrorism and insurgency in the North East.
He also served as General Officer Commanding, 1 Division of the Nigerian Army. (NAN)
