A Kaduna housewife, who allegedly absconded from her marriage in Kaduna state, has been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board for her involvement in alleged prostitution in Kano.

Daily News 24 reports that the mother of four, who simply identified herself as Asma’u said she was arrested in house in Panshekara area of Kano city, days after leaving her matrimonial home in Kaduna.

Ms Asma’u said she had visited her friend in order to help her get a job when she was arrested.

She added that she had hoped to spend the night at her friend’s room when the house was raided by Hisbah operatives, who believed immoral activities were taking place in the area.

“I was in a room with my female friend, when Hisbah people knocked the door and arrested us when we opened,” she said.

However, Ms Asma’u admitted to ingesting substances such as Indian hemp, Shisha and cough syrups, which are all illegal.

“Yes, I take all these substances but I’ve never visited my friend before now,” she added.

It was learnt that following the arrest of the housewife, her husband was said to have divorced her for being caught in a place known for “promiscuities”.

However, confirming the report, An Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Surveillance Section of the Hisbah Board, Aliyu Usman said Ms Asma’u was nabbed together with other suspects for their involvement in prostitution.

He said Hisbah officers had been tracking the house, where the housewife was found as one of the black spots in the area.

“Ms Asmau is arrested because as a married woman she has been found to be making phone calls with unrelated males and even meeting them physically for immoral reasons,” Mr Usman said.
