As Nigerians commemorated June 12 Democracy Day, some aggrieved citizens took to the streets on Wednesday to protest the current state of the country.

The demonstrators voiced their discontent with the prevailing hunger and economic hardship.

In Lagos State, protesters gathered in Ikeja, calling for the removal of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Daily Post reports.

They cited the severe economic challenges faced by Nigerians, emphasizing that many families are struggling to make ends meet under Tinubu’s leadership.

The protesters carried placards with messages such as, “President Tinubu, let the poor breathe” and “Reverse all anti-people, neoliberal policies of privatization.”

One of the protesters took to social media platform X to share their grievances, stating, “We called for it and we are on the street in Ikeja Under Bridge. The tyrannical and oppressive government of @officialABAT must be shown the way out. We are hungry and angry. #WeAreHungryProtest #June12Protest.”

Similarly, in Abuja, a group of discontented citizens gathered under the Berger Bridge to protest against the Tinubu administration, expressing their frustration and demand for change.
