Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has ordered the reinstatement of the suspended Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Danladi Sankara, following his acquittal by the Upper Shariah Court in Kano.

The court cleared Sankara of allegations of enticing a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, on Monday.

The reinstatement was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim. The statement confirmed that Sankara’s suspension was lifted in light of the court’s decision.

Sankara was initially suspended on October 20 after the Kano State Hisbah Board accused him of being in a compromising position with a married woman in an uncompleted building. The board’s Director-General, Abba Sufi, had stated that the arrest was based on a complaint filed by the woman’s husband.

Malam Bala Ibrahim, who also chaired the state government’s probe panel, explained that the suspension was necessary to ensure an impartial investigation. “The suspension was imposed to allow for an unfettered probe into the allegations brought against him,” Ibrahim noted.

The allegations led to Sankara’s arrest on October 19, but his subsequent acquittal has now paved the way for his reinstatement.
