The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will officially close on March 8, 2025, with no possibility of an extension.
In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB reaffirmed that the registration process, which commenced on February 3, will not be prolonged beyond the stipulated deadline. The board emphasized that this timeline has been widely publicized across all official advertisements and the 2025 UTME calendar.

The announcement follows JAMB’s disclosure that over 1.5 million candidates have already completed their registration for the 2025 UTME.
“We wish to inform all prospective candidates that there will be no extension of the registration period,” the board stressed in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
The statement further highlighted concerns over the recent decline in registration numbers, urging interested candidates to register promptly and avoid last-minute delays.
“As of now, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered, aligning closely with the Board’s projections for the 2025 examination cycle. It is crucial to note that JAMB operates on a fixed academic calendar, which includes subsequent activities such as the examination itself, results processing, and admissions procedures.
“These timelines are coordinated with other educational bodies and institutions that depend on the timely completion of JAMB’s processes. Extending the registration period would disrupt not only the Board’s schedule but also that of its partners,” the statement added.
JAMB, therefore, strongly advises all candidates to complete their registration before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience.
