Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious after securing the highest number of votes in the poll. He faced strong competition from Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), among other candidates.

While announcing the results in Akure, the state capital, INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, disclosed that Aiyedatiwa garnered a total of 366,781 votes. His closest rival, Ajayi Agboola of the PDP, received 117,845 votes, while the Labour Party secured 1,162 votes.

Prof. Durotimi stated, “Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of lawful votes cast, is hereby returned elected.”

Aiyedatiwa, who took over from the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, hails from Ilaje Local Government Area in the southern senatorial district of Ondo State.
