Coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles and Franco-German Tactician Gernot Rohr has named a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia and Cape Verde later this month.

However, the surprise inclusion in the squad list is Odion Ighalo who retired his retirement from his international career after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Football fans in the country are waiting to see if Ighalo would accept the invitation after he declared last week that he was yet to decide whether he would return to the national team or not.

Rohr selected seven strikers, three goalkeepers, nine defenders and five midfielders with the return of Porto star Zaidu Sanusi and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

Glasgow Rangers youngster Calvin Bassey and Malmo ace Innocent Bonke and Union Berlin striker, Taiwo Awoniyi were dropped from squad.

But Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze and Everton’s Alex Iwobi found their ways back to team having recovered from injuries.

Here’s the full squad, according to NFF.

Goalkeepers (3) : Maduka Okoye, Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho

Defenders (9) : William Troost-Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem, Jamilu Collins, Ola Aina, Kevin Akpoguma, Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo, Zaidu Sanusi, Abdullahi Shehu
