Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television, Adebayo expressed confidence in his candidacy, dismissing concerns over competition within the party.
His declaration comes amid the recent defection of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the SDP. While El-Rufai has been rallying politicians to the party, Adebayo insisted that his presidential ambition remains intact and that every party member is aware of his intention to contest.
Welcoming new entrants, Adebayo emphasized that the SDP follows a democratic process, requiring all candidates to go through a fair nomination system. He, however, maintained that he is the party’s best choice for the 2027 race.
Adebayo also took a swipe at President Bola Tinubu, predicting that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be defeated in 2027 and that an SDP-led government will emerge.
On the possibility of alliances, Adebayo clarified that the SDP is not currently discussing mergers or coalitions but remains open to engagements if other parties take the initiative.
