The sentencing of alleged Nigerian cyber fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, has been rescheduled for the fourth time by a United States Central District Court in California.

Hushpuppi was arrested in June 2020 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 12 accomplices on allegations of hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft, and was later extradited to the United States for prosecution.

His extradition to the United States was contingent on the UAE police detailing his arrest, in which he was accused of defrauding 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168 billion.

He agreed to plead guilty to the multi-million dollar fraud charges levied against him by the American government in July 2021.

In July 2021, he entered into a plea bargain agreement with the US government in the hopes of receiving a lesser sentence.

However, Hushpuppi’s case has been rescheduled for November 7, 2022, by trial judge Otis Wright.

“Counsels have been notified, and the sentencing of Defendant Ramon Olorunwa Abbas has been continued to November 7, 2022, at 11:30 a.m.,” the court’s announcement said.

Judge Wright initially postponed the sentencing hearing from 14 February to 11 July, then to 21 September and now to 7 November.
