At least six people were killed when gunmen suspected to be herdsmen launched a deadly attack on Tse Ugema Chul community in Benue State.

The attackers stormed the village around 7 p.m. on Saturday, shooting indiscriminately and looting homes, leaving many injured or missing.
Eyewitnesses recounted how local youths mobilized to repel the invaders, forcing them to flee toward a nearby stream called Kafe.
However, as the youths pursued them, another group of attackers emerged from the bushes, armed with guns and machetes, and launched a surprise ambush. The youths were overpowered, leading to more casualties.
Confirming the attack, the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Jonathan Modi, described the incident as heartbreaking. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Catherine Anene, for comments were unsuccessful.
