A violent attack on the residence of Malumfashi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Maharazu Dayi, in Katsina State has resulted in the death of his security aide and the abduction of a four-year-old child.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when gunmen stormed the chairman’s home in three vehicles-an unusual method compared to their typical use of motorcycles.

The assailants gained entry by scaling a neighbor’s fence, alerting the chairman’s wife’s sister, who quickly raised an alarm. Amid the ensuing chaos, some family members hid in a toilet, while the chairman’s wife secured herself in her room.
Despite efforts to evade the attackers, the gunmen abducted two of the chairman’s children, who were asleep in another room. Hon. Dayi, who was in Katsina at the time, was immediately alerted by his wife and contacted security forces.
The Malumfashi Divisional Police Officer (DPO) dispatched officers to the scene, resulting in a fierce gun battle. The confrontation forced the attackers to release one of the children, but they managed to escape with four-year-old Ahmed.
The Katsina Police Command spokesperson, DSP Sadiq Abubakar, confirmed the incident and reported that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack. The security aide, identified as Shamsudeen Ahmed, succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault.
This is coming weeks after gunmen attacked Kankara General Hospital in Katsina State, shooting a medical doctor, Murtala Dandashire, and another individual. Five people were abducted during the attack.
