The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested at least 16 young men who are accused of sporting alleged immoral haircuts.

Daily News 24 reports that the arrests were made during raids at various fun-seeking centres during the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebrations in the city.

It was learnt that the raid was carried out as part of the board’s operation “Kau da Badala”, an exercise conceived to stamp out prostitution and immorality.

One of the youths arrested, Aminu Usman, 20, said he did the haircut when he saw his pairs doing it.

“I really regret my actions because I know it was a bad thing and against Islamic values. I’m seeking forgiveness, please.

“I won’t repeat it again,” he said.

Another youth, Halifa Muhammad, a resident of Sabuwar Gandu also claimed that he wore the haircut after seeing many other youths wearing it in their community.

Mr Muhammad, 19, added that he paid N1,000 for the haircut.

“I won’t allow my mother to see me with it because it’s wrong. My father has died but I don’t want my mom to see me like this,” he said.

“I won’t repeat it again because I know that this kind of haircut is for bad and immoral people that we are copying”.
