The Kano State Hisbah Board has imposed a ban on all forms of sports betting in the state as part of its intensified effort to combat immorality.

This was revealed by Dr Mujaheed Aminuddeen, Deputy Commander-General of the board, during a press briefing on Hisbah’s renewed drive.

“We have re-launched ‘Operation flush out immorality,’ and our operatives will soon clamp down on individuals and groups violating social order,” Dr Mujaheed said.

He also announced that landlords who rent apartments to unknown persons would face arrest, citing concerns over houses being used as lodges and motels for immoral activities.

In addition, the board introduced strict regulations on courtship, barring couples from sitting in tinted vehicles, especially at night. Dr Mujaheed highlighted that the law also prohibits street begging, with female beggars found outside late into the night at risk of arrest.

Further restrictions were placed on women’s movements, with a warning that women seen in tricycles after 10 p.m. would face arrest due to concerns about the increasing rate of prostitution among young girls.

“Violating these rules will attract stiff penalties,” Dr Mujaheed warned, urging parents to closely monitor their children, especially females, to prevent any form of misconduct.
