A Kano State High Court has reserved judgment in a case filed by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) seeking to prevent the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other entities from withholding allocations meant for Kano’s 44 local government areas.

The applicants, led by NULGE Chairman Ibrahim Muhd and others, argued that withholding these funds disrupts essential local governance functions.

Their counsel, Bashir Yusuf Muhammad, presented affidavits and written addresses supporting their case.

While the CBN and some respondents objected to their inclusion in the suit, citing jurisdiction issues, others, such as the 44 local governments, supported the motion to ensure seamless fund disbursement.

Justice Ibrahim Musa Muhammad has adjourned the case for ruling on both preliminary objections and the substantive matter, with a date to be communicated to all parties.
