A teenager identified as Rukayat was killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen at a farm settlement at Ahun village, Oro Ago, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday.

Two other persons sustained bullet wounds during the attack, according to the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi in Ilorin, on Sunday.

He said, “On Sunday, 26/09/2021, at about 0830 hours, some community leaders from Ahun farm settlement in Oro Ago, came to the divisional office in the area to report the incident of gunmen’s attack in their community.”

He said the gunmen in large number started shooting sporadically when they entered the community, resulting in the killing of one Rukayat, a teenager who was hit by a stray bullet.

According to Babawale, the motive for the bloody attack has not been established yet, but investigations are ongoing.

The community leaders are working with the NSCDC to get to the root of the incident, he added.

Security has also been beefed up in and around the community to forestall another possible attack.
