The victims, identified as Emmanuella, Fola, Susan, and Ella, were taken near Zamfara Hostel around 8:30 p.m. while heading to a lecture hall to study. A university source said five gunmen ambushed them and took them away at gunpoint.
Following the incident, students gathered outside their hostels in protest, demanding swift action from authorities to secure the release of their abducted colleagues.
In response, the university’s management announced a mid-semester break, directing all students to vacate the hostels by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The university’s Registrar, Dr. John David, condemned the attack and assured that security agencies are working to rescue the victims. He also stated that the government had been informed of the situation and that security measures were being reinforced to prevent further incidents.
Additionally, the university postponed its scheduled inaugural lecture indefinitely as part of its response to the crisis.
