According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the assurance followed a State Security Council meeting held on Sunday, November 30, which was attended by top security officials. The meeting highlighted the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and public safety throughout Kano.
The government emphasized that recent claims of security threats circulating online and in some media outlets are unfounded. “There is no credible intelligence suggesting any imminent or significant threat to public peace,” the statement noted. Authorities stressed that deliberately spreading misinformation to cause fear or confusion will not be tolerated.
In coordination with Security Intelligence Services, law enforcement agencies, and community structures, security formations across the state have been strategically deployed and briefed to prevent any disruption of peace. Every area of Kano is under active surveillance, backed by a robust security framework, the government confirmed.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, responsible, and patriotic in their use of social media, while those found spreading false news risk facing legal consequences.
Gov. Yusuf further assured the public that the administration is committed to strengthening intelligence operations, enhancing cooperation among security agencies, and employing advanced security mechanisms to safeguard lives and property.
“Kano is safe, secure, and fully prepared to confront any threat. Residents should continue with their normal activities without fear,” the statement concluded.
