Following the first day of a protest that turned violent in Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf has conducted an on-the-spot visit to inspect the damage caused by hoodlums who hijacked the demonstration.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yusuf on Social Media, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, shared details of the visit on his Facebook page, stating, “Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State in company of his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo have carried out on the spot visit to ascertain level of destructions carried out by hoodlums under disguise of the protest.”

Among the affected sites were the yet-to-be-commissioned Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Kano office and several government facilities located in front of the government house along State Road.

The protest, which began peacefully at the front of the Kano State government house, escalated into violence, leading to the destruction and looting of both public and private properties.

In response to the chaos, Governor Yusuf imposed a 24-hour curfew with immediate effect to restore order in the state. As of the time of this report, normalcy has been restored, with the state remaining calm and the roads deserted.
