Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on political appointees and senior officials to prioritize integrity, emphasizing that honesty and accountability are essential for good governance and long-term development.

The governor delivered the message during a three-day retreat in Kaduna themed “Anti-Corruption, Financial Fraud, Transformational Leadership, and Ethical Values in the Workplace,” jointly organized by ANHI Consultants International and the Kano State Government over the weekend.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf highlighted the importance of transparency in decision-making and policy implementation. He noted that corruption undermines progress and directly affects the poor and vulnerable, urging officials to focus on delivering results that benefit all citizens.

The governor said the people of Kano expect a government that serves them rather than enriches a few, reminding participants that their mandate comes with a responsibility to meet public expectations. He also stressed that the effectiveness of government policies relies on the integrity and professionalism of those tasked with carrying them out.

Governor Yusuf encouraged attendees to be courageous, visionary, and committed to ethical leadership even in challenging circumstances. He also acknowledged the efforts of the retreat organizers, particularly Dr. Aminu I. Gusau, for their contributions to the program’s success.

In his remarks, Dr. Gusau commended the quality of the current administration’s appointees, describing them as capable of leading Kano toward sustainable development. The Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farooq Ibrahim, also praised Governor Yusuf’s leadership, noting that his administration has achieved in two years what previous governments struggled to accomplish in much longer periods.

The retreat concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants and a group photograph to commemorate the event.
