The changes, disclosed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, are aimed at boosting efficiency and improving service delivery across key ministries.

Under the new directive, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, has been reassigned to head the Ministry of Transport. In a related move, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Barrister Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad, will now serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment.

The Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs, who had been doubling as acting head of the Transport Ministry, is expected to return to his substantive role at Humanitarian Affairs.

Governor Yusuf directed all officials affected by the changes to hand over responsibilities to the most senior officers in their ministries, with the process expected to be concluded by the close of business on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to accountability and effective governance, the Governor said the redeployment was designed to strengthen capacity, align responsibilities, and ensure better results for the people of Kano State.

He also urged staff across the affected ministries to cooperate fully with the redeployed officials to ensure a smooth transition and continuity in government operations.
