Muhammad Sanusi II, the new appointed Emir of Kano has formally received his appointment letter confirming his position from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Daily News 24 reports that Mr Sanusi received the letter on Friday at the Africa House hall of the Government House Kano in a grand ceremony attended by top government officials and security agents.

The development is sequel to the signing into law of the amended Kano State Emirate Council Law by the governor on Thursday.

The amended law abolished the five Emirate Councils and sacked the emirs appointed by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019, paving way for the re-enthroment of Sunusi.

Speaking while presenting the letter, Yusuf said, “Sunusi is a victim of the immediate past administration, who is now being restored to his rightful position to lead the people”.

The governor added that the law that brought back Mr Sanusi to the Kano Emirate throne can not be changed. “

It has become a law and nobody can change it,” he said.

The ceremony was graced by members of the Kano Emirate Council, district heads and title holders.

Just about an hour after the ceremony, Emir Sanusi led the Friday prayers at the Government House mosque.

There were jubilations at the Government House among Sanusi’s supporters who also joined the Friday congregational prayers led by the new Emir.
