Governor Yusuf said the Wuju-Wuju road, a key infrastructure project in the state, was initiated in 2013 during the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso but remained abandoned for eight years under the previous government. He explained that after reviewing the status of the project, his administration formally sought federal support to ensure its completion.
According to him, the request received swift attention, leading to the Federal Executive Council’s approval of N47 billion for the completion of the multi-purpose road project. He described President Tinubu’s approval as a strong signal of responsive leadership and a clear commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in Kano State.
The governor also commended the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, for what he described as consistent and determined efforts to secure the project’s approval. He noted that Bichi followed the process closely from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa, ensuring that Kano’s interests were fully represented.
Governor Yusuf described Hon. Bichi as a worthy ambassador of Kano State at the National Assembly and urged other federal lawmakers from the state to emulate his dedication, patriotism, and results-driven representation, regardless of party affiliation.
He further acknowledged Bichi’s role in facilitating other major projects for Kano, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and the proposed international-standard stadium in Bichi.
The governor also appealed to President Tinubu to approve additional large-scale projects for Kano, citing the state’s population and development needs. He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to work closely with the Federal Government to accelerate sustainable development.
Governor Yusuf assured residents that his government would continue to pursue strategic partnerships capable of delivering lasting infrastructure and tangible benefits across Kano State.
