Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged financial institutions to scale up their investments in the state as part of efforts to accelerate economic development.

The governor made the call while commissioning a new branch of Signature Bank along Murtala Muhammad Way in Kano metropolis.

Governor Yusuf described the launch of the new branch as a welcome addition that reinforces Kano’s standing as the commercial nerve centre of Northern Nigeria. He commended the management of Signature Bank for choosing to invest in the state and pledged his administration’s continued support for initiatives that promote financial inclusion and economic growth.

According to him, the growing number of financial institutions in Kano would not only increase access to credit facilities for small and medium-scale enterprises but also help in creating more employment opportunities for young people.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Signature Bank, Mr. Nikson Awedi, expressed confidence that the new branch would serve as a strategic entry point for the bank’s expansion across Northern Nigeria.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Emir of Kano, His Highness Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, senior government officials, and representatives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
