The Kano State Government has commenced plans to connect ten communities in Gwarzo Local Government Area to tap water supply.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, dispatched a team of engineers to carry out measurements that will enable the extension of pipelines from the Fada and Kusalla water stations.

According to the ministry, the benefiting communities were identified based on their proximity to the main water line that passes through the area. The communities include Riji Tsauni, Kwarbai, Salihawa, Kakarya, Unguwar Dorawa, Unguwar Gaude, Riga/Buremawa, Kayyu, Daminawa, and Kogon Kura.
Receiving the engineers on behalf of the Gwarzo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dr. Mani Tsoho, the secretary of the council, Hon. Sunusi Abdullahi Getso, described the project as a welcome development that will bring relief to the people.
Traditional rulers and elders of the communities also expressed joy over the intervention. The Village Head of Riji, Alhaji Yusuf Riji, along with leaders from Salihawa and Kakarya, clerics, and other community elders, offered prayers for the success of the project and commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, for the initiative.
Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Water Resources, Abba Rabiu Gwarzo, confirmed that the project is aimed at improving access to potable water in the benefiting communities.
