According to a statement from his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the funds were distributed on Thursday at the Coronation Hall, Government House, through the Kano Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (Kano-ACReSAL) under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The N11 billion project, supported by the World Bank and federal government, includes reinforced concrete drainage, bioremediation buffers, and other infrastructure to reclaim degraded land and improve safety in the area. It also features solar-powered streetlights and community vigilante engagement to curb crime.

The governor personally handed over compensation cheques to verified beneficiaries from Nasarawa and Ungogo LGAs, following a process of enumeration and community engagement.

The erosion had destroyed farmlands, homes, and displaced families. The Yusuf administration pledged continued support and equitable development across all communities.

The statement praised the role of the ACReSAL team, traditional leaders, and stakeholders in ensuring transparency. Beneficiaries thanked the state government, recalling years of waiting before the project was finally addressed.
