The disbursement, which took place today, Wednesday, at the Government House, saw N5 billion paid to pensioners, bringing the total paid by the state over the past two years to N27 billion.

The first phase, on December 2, 2023, involved N6 billion paid to about 6,000 retirees and families of deceased civil servants who exited service between 2016 and 2019. The second phase, on June 29, 2024, delivered N5 billion to roughly 4,000 beneficiaries, raising the cumulative total to N11 billion. On January 10, 2025, the third phase saw another N5 billion disbursed, increasing the total to N16 billion. The fourth phase, on July 10, 2025, provided N6 billion to 3,313 pensioners and bereaved families.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to settling the remaining N21 billion in future tranches to ensure all pension obligations are fully met by 2027. These payments aim to improve the welfare of retired workers and their families while also stimulating economic activity as the funds circulate in local markets.
