Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sympathy to Prof. Nura Yaro Dawakin Tofa, an Associate Professor of Environmental Management and Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at Northwest University, Kano, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Hafsat Yusuf Yaro Alajawa.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the 75-year-old Hajiya Hafsat passed away at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a long illness.
She was laid to rest the same day in accordance with Islamic rites at the residence of her eldest son, Prof. Nura Yaro, in Dawakin Tofa GRA, with the burial held at 1:00 p.m.
Governor Yusuf described the death as a painful loss to both the family and the Dawakin Tofa community, noting that her life left a lasting impact on those around her.
He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and give the bereaved family strength to endure the loss.
