The Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) has conferred its prestigious Fellowship award on Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his remarkable contributions to infrastructure development and engineering excellence in governance.

This recognition was announced in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday. The award was presented during the Institution’s two-day Annual Conference and General Meeting held in Kano, which brought together professionals from across Nigeria to discuss innovative strategies for advancing the nation’s infrastructure.
The National Chairman of NICE, Engr. Otunba Ajanaku, who decorated Governor Yusuf with the Fellowship honour, commended his transformative leadership in urban renewal and infrastructure delivery across Kano State. He described the governor as a visionary leader who has turned Kano into one of the country’s most active construction hubs through people-centered projects.
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Institution for the honour and reiterated his administration’s dedication to maintaining high engineering standards in all state projects. He stated that the recognition would inspire his government to intensify its efforts in delivering quality roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and other essential public facilities.
Governor Yusuf also pledged continued collaboration with professional organizations like NICE to promote transparency, accountability, and technical excellence in project execution throughout Kano State.
