Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Dr. Suraj Sulaiman as the new Statistician-General and Director-General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Sunday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Dr. Sulaiman’s appointment takes immediate effect following the completion of the tenure of Associate Professor Aliyu Isa Aliyu, who now serves as the Commissioner for Livestock Development. Governor Yusuf also directed that the handover process between the outgoing and incoming heads be completed within the week.
Dr. Sulaiman is a renowned academic and mathematician with extensive experience in research, teaching, and statistical analysis. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where he worked on “New Method of Computing the Projective Polynomial Resultant Based on Dixon, Jouanolou and Jacobian Matrices.”
He earned his Master’s degree in Mathematics from Yasar University, Turkey, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil. His academic career began at the College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies, Kano, where he obtained a diploma in Mathematics Education.
Governor Yusuf congratulated Dr. Sulaiman on his appointment, expressing optimism that his expertise will strengthen the Bureau’s role in promoting data-driven decision-making across the state.
