Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has inaugurated the chairmen, commissioners, and members of the Sharia and Zakkat and Hubusi Commissions, with a focus on advancing Islamic governance and social welfare in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi DawakinTofa, on Tuesday.

In his address, Governor Yusuf highlighted Kano’s prominent role in the Islamic world, pointing to its many renowned scholars, Islamiyya schools, and Islamic study centers. He emphasized that the appointees were chosen based on merit, competence, and trustworthiness, expressing confidence in their ability to carry out their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
The Sharia Commission has been tasked with promoting unity among Muslim faithful from various sects to foster peace, stability, and socioeconomic development in Kano State. The Zakkat and Hubusi Commissions, on the other hand, will focus on collecting alms from wealthy individuals to support the less privileged, with the aim of alleviating poverty in the state.
Key Appointments:
- Sharia Commission: Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji (Chairman), Malam Yahaya Gwani Hadi (Permanent Commissioner), and Sheikh Ali Dan Abba (Permanent Commissioner II)
- Zakkat and Hubusi Commission: Barrister Habibu Dan Almajiri (Chairman), Sheikh Nafi’u Umar Harazami (Permanent Commissioner I), and Dr. Ali Quraish (Permanent Commissioner II)
Governor Yusuf expressed his full confidence that the newly inaugurated officials would effectively discharge their duties, contributing to the growth of Islamic governance and the improvement of social welfare in Kano State.
