Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has adopted 95 orphans as part of the celebrations marking Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

The Governor made the announcement during a special lunch with the children at the state-owned orphanage home, where they have been living since losing their biological parents.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor declared that the state government would assume full responsibility for the orphans, covering their education, healthcare, feeding, and social needs throughout his tenure. “I want to announce that we have assumed full responsibility of all the 95 orphans domiciled in this facility. We will take care of their education from primary to tertiary, healthcare services, feeding, and other social needs throughout my tenure,” Yusuf stated.

The Governor assured that the orphans would be treated as important individuals, receiving full care and privileges. He further promised that the state would help them reach their full potential. “You are now my children. I will take care of you as my own. You will begin to feel the good side of life, in sha Allah,” he added.

The orphanage, established 54 years ago, witnessed this level of care for the first time, with Governor Yusuf also donating food items worth millions of naira to support the children’s welfare and food security.
