Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has uncovered mismanagement and poor hygiene at some Ramadan feeding centres in Dutse Local Government Area during an unannounced visit.
During inspections in Dundubus, Karnaya, Gaci, and Limawa, Namadi found irregularities in food distribution, with some centres struggling to maintain proper standards. He expressed disappointment over the situation and warned that mismanagement would not be tolerated.
The governor directed officials to address the issues immediately and emphasized the need for transparency, fairness, and hygiene in food distribution. He reassured residents that his administration remains committed to ensuring the programme runs effectively.
Namadi also called on local authorities and community leaders to strengthen monitoring efforts, stressing that the welfare of the people remains a top priority.
The Ramadan feeding initiative, valued at over N4.8 billion, is jointly funded by the state and local governments to provide meals across 287 wards in all 27 local government areas, including markets, motor parks, and rehabilitation centres.
