Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sacked all his commissioners with immediate effect, following a recent Supreme Court judgment.
The announcement was made on Wednesday evening in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, signaling a major shake-up in the state’s political leadership.

In the statement, Governor Fubara thanked his commissioners for their service and contributions to the development of Rivers State over the past two years. He described their work as valuable and expressed appreciation for their dedication.
To mark their exit, the governor held a valedictory session with his cabinet members at the Government House in Port Harcourt, coinciding with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. During the session, he reaffirmed his commitment to serving Rivers State with renewed energy and urged citizens to continue supporting efforts to build a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation alongside President Bola Tinubu.
The dissolution of the cabinet follows a Supreme Court ruling, although the details of the judgment were not disclosed in the statement. The status of the commissioners had been uncertain since Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the state’s former administrator, suspended all commissioners, special advisers, and special assistants upon assuming office.
