Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, as the first Emir of Duguri, with a first-class status.

Speaking after receiving his letter of appointment on Friday, Emir Duguri described the recognition as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration for the people of Duguri. He expressed gratitude to Allah and the Bauchi State government for the honour, pledging to promote peace, unity, and development within his domain.
The appointment, made under the Bauchi State Chieftaincy Appointment and Deposition Law 2025, was officially presented to the new Emir by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo.
The new Emir outlined his priorities, including improving education by ensuring more children are enrolled in school, supporting better healthcare delivery, maintaining peace and security, and fostering unity among residents to advance community development.
In appreciation of the governor’s role in creating the Duguri Emirate, the monarch conferred the traditional title of Yariman Duguri on Governor Bala Mohammed.
