The Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Umar Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has commenced the distribution of 3,627 bags of rice to residents of Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area in Kano State as part of efforts to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Ganduje town on Thursday, Engr. Umar explained that the food items include 1,133 bags of 50kg rice and 2,494 bags of 25kg rice. He emphasized that the initiative aims to ease the economic burden on the people, particularly in the spirit of Ramadan.

He reassured the crowd that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is working diligently to improve the lives of Nigerians, adding that food prices have begun to decline nationwide. He urged residents to continue supporting the government’s efforts.
Beyond the Ramadan support, Engr. Umar revealed that more empowerment programs are in the pipeline to assist the people and reward loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who remained committed to the party despite its opposition status in the state.
“APC is a party that cares for its supporters, whether in government or not. Party members like Nasiru Ja’oji, Deputy Senate President, and Baffa Babba Dan’agundi have been actively supporting our people through various empowerment initiatives.
“This is why I came back to my hometown to express my gratitude and give back to you. This is just the beginning; more empowerment programs are coming. We will return with more support,” he assured.
He added that the rice distribution would be handled by APC executives across the 38 wards in Tofa, Rimin Gado, and Dawakin-Tofa.
Former Commissioner of Works and Land, Shehu Haruna Lambu, commended Engr. Umar for his generosity and dedication to his constituents. He praised him for initiating developmental projects despite not holding an elective position.
“This young man has shown great commitment to his people. Despite losing the election, he continues to bring development to our communities.
“He has electrified our areas, installed solar-powered streetlights, and directly supported many residents. If he contests in the next election, we must rally behind him and give him our votes,” Lambu said.
