The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, chairman of the committee set up by Ganduje to facilitate the establishment of the outfit. According to the statement, the move followed wide consultations with stakeholders drawn from all the 44 local government areas of the state.
Dan Agundi explained that the plan was dropped after it generated mixed public reactions, concerns and confusion among residents across Kano. He noted that the feedback from stakeholders made it necessary to reconsider the initiative in the interest of peace and unity.
The statement further disclosed that stakeholders resolved to suspend the proposed outfit to give the Kano State Government room to reassess issues surrounding the dismissal of existing Hisbah personnel. It added that the matter should be addressed through dialogue and mutual understanding rather than through parallel arrangements.
